The Sanskrit Word "Haritaki" (हरीतकी)
The ancient Sanskrit term "Haritaki" is often translated as "the fruit that is connected to the divine" or "the divine fruit". The name consists of two parts:- "Harita" (हरीत) means "green" or "yellow" and is associated with freshness, vitality, or also with spiritual meaning.
- "Aki" (की) is a suffix that denotes something that belongs to a specific being or quality.
The Haritaki tree is protected in large parts of India.
Note: An official health claim for Haritaki (and Triphala) has not yet been confirmed by the relevant EU authorities, although numerous scientific studies have investigated the potential of these plant(s).

Traditional designation
Haritaki is used in the tradition of many Buddhist monks, yogis, and Shaolin as part of their daily practice.
