The Sanskrit Word "Haritaki" (हरीतकी)

The ancient Sanskrit term "Haritaki" is often translated as "the fruit that connects with the divine" or "the divine fruit". The name is composed of two parts:
  • "Harita" (हरीत) means "green" or "yellow" and is associated with freshness, vitality, or even spiritual significance.
  • "Aki" (की) is a suffix that denotes something that belongs to a particular being or characteristic.
In the Ayurvedic tradition, Haritaki is highly valued and is an important component of numerous formulations. The plant has a long history of veneration in spiritual and cultural contexts and is used in many traditions.

The Haritaki tree is protected in large parts of India and is considered a sacred tree in the Hindu tradition.

Note: An official health claim for Haritaki (and Triphala) has not yet been confirmed by the relevant EU authorities, although numerous scientific studies have investigated the potential of this plant(s).
